Augmented reality mode will not work (or will work badly) in the following cases:
- on grassy ground with wind,
- at night,
- on plain coloured ground,
- if there are reflections on the ground,
- on a water surface
Simply open a project in your application. Then you'll have to make circular (slow) movements while aiming at the ground with the camera on the tablet or smartphone. Augmented reality will then appear on the detected surface. It is possible that some surfaces will be detected faster than others.
Yes.
The application needs to be connected to City Sense servers to download your 3D data to your smartphone or tablet.
However, there is a cache mode (offline) that allows you to download the data to your mobile device if you go to a site with insufficient network coverage. Simply view your project on your device before you leave for the site. The application will offer to use the cached data the next time you have no network connection.

In order to ensure the proper loading of your project, but also to benefit from the best possible fluidity when you visualize it, make sure to respect the following specifications:
- 3,500,000 triangles (this number may vary depending on the number of textures present in the 3D)
Other options in the modeling can cause a model not to pass even within the limitations. In this case, do not hesitate to send us a request via our contact form.
You should only use triangles and/or quadrilaterals and ensure that all vertices of your modeling are linked.
Make sure you have loaded textured templates and not templates with simple colors.
If you use SketchUp to create your 3D models, we recommend that you export them in COLLADA (DAE) or KMZ format before uploading your project to City Sense and we advise you to respect the export options illustrated below:
The DAE file can be submitted directly to the City Sense workspace. Be sure not to forget the associated textures.
IMPORTANT: MODELS MUST BE Z-UP ORIENTED.
To make my cuts and visualizations by level visible in City Sense, it is necessary to respect a certain nomenclature according to the 3D modeling software used.
Under 3DS Max, Maya or Blender: create a dummy, named IN$ parent of 2 dummies named BUT$ and ROO$:
BUT$ will correspond to the location of the button to activate the level view
ROO$ will correspond to the parent of the elements to be masked
Under Sketchup:
Group the games to be hidden under ROO$
Create a box named BUT$ where you want to display the button
Group BUT$ and ROO$ under INS$
We invite you to contact us if you experience difficulties sending your 3D project.
Think that your file must be processed to make it compatible with a mobile application that does not have the hardware power of a 3D workstation.
Files in DAE, 3DS, OBJ, FBX, BLEND, IFC, KMZ, WRL, JLF, GBL, STL and PLY formats are accepted.
To load the associated textures, place the file with its textures in a ZIP archive and load it into your City Sense workspace.
